Now I Sleep

Pot Luck, Piano and Bingo!

Tonight I had the honor of playing background music at the Arlington Senior Center about five minutes from my house in Arlington, TN.

Everyone brought food along with a white elephant gift, which served as prizes for Bingo. That’s me there on the right being all “out of the way” and stuff.

While I was playing, a dear friend of mine who has always been a great encouragement to me and my music, came up to sit beside me so that he could soak in the music. I feel that I should treasure this moment.

Then I had the incredible experience of yelling out Bingo numbers until all of the prizes were given out! For a soft-spoken guy like myself, this definitely landed me outside of my comfort zone. But, I remembered my Dad saying, “Son, enunciate your words.” I know he would be proud. Only once did a fight nearly break out over a number that I either misread or they misheard. In that crowd, likely a little of both!

My mother-in-law, who invited me to play at this event, got up to speak some very beautiful words about me and my music. She told everyone the story behind my Now I Sleep album, which deeply moved a number of them. They did a drawing for a copy of my CD, which was met with excitement.

All in all, I had a great time, met some wonderful neighbors, and got to play music outside of my living room for once!
