One of the most amazing women I know is my childhood friend and pen pal, Monica Snyder.
Monica suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), which is a disease that weakens the connective tissues of your body, like tendons and ligaments. Her body bears the scars of more than 30 surgeries, and yet she continually returns to gratitude.
She said, “God gave us everything we needed every step of the way. I wouldn’t have known God like I know him now had he not stripped everything away, especially my pride.”
She described her past as “a Scarlet Rope story” referencing the story of Rahab in the Bible, who had a scandalous past but was later mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus. It’s an ancient story of redemption and grace.
Monica said, “We are in such a delicate place…God calls me over and over to rest. I don’t have to do anything to be safe or saved or loved.”
When I asked her what she wanted the world to know, she said without hesitation, “GRACE WINS.”
